About Graham Gallivan
LGBTQ+ Friendly Therapist in San Francisco
My Work As A Bay Area Gay Therapist Is Rooted In My Own Healing Experiences
I became a therapist because I believe in the transformative power of human connection and self-discovery, and my own journey of personal growth and healing has inspired me to help others navigate their paths.
As a gay man, I've experienced the challenges of coming out, building my identity, and facing various obstacles along the way. This experience, alongside my personal spiritual journey, allows me to relate to clients on their own journeys regardless of their specific beliefs or traditions. I've also worked in fast-paced corporate environments, from startups to Fortune 500 companies, so I have intimate knowledge of the stressors these environments can inflict.

In my practice, I provide clients with a space where they can slow down, let go of the pressures of the outside world, and find deeper meaning within themselves.

My Evidence-Based and LGBTQ+ Friendly Therapy Approach
I believe in the inherent wisdom within each person and see my role as a guide in helping clients access this wisdom. This aligns with my life philosophy of continuous growth, self-reflection, and compassion. I strive to embody these values, fostering genuine connections and seeking a deeper understanding of myself and others.
As a therapist, I bring to my practice a rare combination of experience with organizational environments, queer identity, and spiritual depth. My approach is grounded in both evidence-based techniques and exploration of the mysteries of human experience. I'm known for my warm, authentic presence and my ability to create a safe space where clients can feel truly seen and understood. My own journey of integrating my identity, career, and spiritual path allows me to guide others in finding this integration in their own lives.
I Specialize In Helping Couples, LGBTQ+ Individuals, And Spiritual Seekers
My specialties include working with LGBTQ+ folx, couples, and those looking to deepen their sense of spirituality. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I'm passionate about providing affirming care and addressing the unique challenges our community faces.

In my work with couples, I take an emotionally-focused approach, looking at ways that I can help them enrich emotional intimacy and deepen their trust in each other. Through this approach, I support partners in communicating their feelings from a place of warmth and compassion. Additionally, I specialize in helping couples navigate non-traditional relationship structures like polyamory and consensual non-monogamy.
Having worked in San Francisco's tech community, I've seen firsthand how anxiety and depression can impact high-achieving individuals, inspiring me to provide support for this community. I’ve also witnessed how our materialistic culture can lead to profound disconnection from our spiritual roots, and I am passionate about integrating spirituality into my therapeutic approach where clients are interested. When integrating spirituality, I empower clients to carve out their own spiritual paths so that they can find more meaning and purpose in their lives, whether they identify as religious or secular.
A Little Bit About Who I Am
Outside of my therapy practice, I'm passionate about personal growth and spirituality. I'm a former athlete who still enjoys athletics and an avid traveler with an interest in linguistics and other cultures. I enjoy reading about psychology, spirituality, and personal development, and I am also a devoted cat daddy!

I'm actively involved in the LGBTQ+ community in San Francisco, having taken part in community events and volunteered as a peer support provider for the Shanti Project, an organization pairing volunteers with members of the LGBTQ+ community who are struggling with their mental health. I’ve also served on the board of Gaylesta, an association of gay therapists. And as a public speaker, I’ve given talks on mental health and mindfulness at a number of organizations in the Bay Area.
My approach is holistic and immersive, integrating all domains of life—from relationships to work to spirituality and beyond. And drawing from my own experience of healing in these areas, I bring a unique blend of personal insight and professional expertise to my work with clients. My practice is more than just my work—it’s a calling and a deep commitment to support your journey toward emotional well-being!
